The music from your PC, on air.

Twools Buddy is an app for Windows. It reads the track your PC is playing and, if you turn it on, the rank and matches of your Valorant and League of Legends accounts from the clients open on your PC, then sends them to your Now playing, Valorant and League of Legends widgets. You have no third-party account to link and no API key to create.

Version 0.3.0 · Windows 10 and 11

Install Buddy in three steps

  1. 01

    Download and open

Buddy is a single file, with nothing to install. Double-click it to open it. When you close its window, it stays active near the clock.

  2. 02

    Get past the Windows warning

Windows shows "Windows protected your PC". Click "More info", then "Run anyway".

  3. 03

    Paste your code

In the Twools editor, open your Now playing, Valorant or League of Legends widget, Source section, and click "Generate a connection code". Paste that code into Buddy. For a game, then tick the reading in that game's tab in Buddy, "Valorant" or "League".

Why Windows shows a warning

This version of Buddy is not digitally signed. SmartScreen checks the reputation of downloaded apps and may show a warning. Only use the official download on this page. If your PC blocks the app without offering "Run anyway", wait for a signed version.Understanding SmartScreen, on Microsoft's website

What Buddy reads, and what it does not do

What it sends

The title, artist, album, duration, playback position, the player's name and the PC's name, plus the cover shown by your player, reduced before sending. If the player provides none, Twools looks it up from the title and the artist. If you turn on Valorant reading, off by default: your Riot ID, region, rank, RR and latest matches, read from the Riot client open on your PC. The same goes for League reading, also off by default: your Riot ID, region, level, ranks, LP and latest matches, read from the League client.

What it does not do

Buddy does not capture your microphone or your screen, does not browse your files and does not control your player. It never sees your Riot password, does not read the game's memory and sends nothing about other players. It reads the information Windows and the Riot and League clients expose, and keeps its pairing with Twools encrypted on your PC.

Which players

Buddy reads the players that publish their track to Windows. Spotify has been tested. Other players may work, with more or less complete information depending on what each one publishes.

Several PCs

You can connect several machines. The last one connected takes over, and you can cut the others from the editor or the Control Room.

The widgets fed by Twools Buddy

Windows only, for now

Buddy relies on a Windows service to read the current track. There is no macOS or Linux version yet. If you need one, say so on the Twools Discord: the number of requests will decide what comes next.
